Launch of the Official Island Council Website of St. Eustatius
The Island Council of St. Eustatius has officially launched their new website — a public-facing platform that provides citizens, stakeholders, and partners with streamlined access to the work of their elected representatives.
SIM Caribbean was proud to coordinate the end-to-end implementation and onboarding process for this important milestone. Developed in close collaboration with our web development partner Shift2, and enhanced with accessibility and governance tools from our partners ReadSpeaker and iBabs, the launch represents a significant step in the island’s broader journey toward good governance and digital transformation.
A modern platform for transparent governance
The new website — https://islandcouncil.statiagov.com — is designed to be accessible, informative, and inclusive. With bilingual functionality, mobile optimization, and WCAG-compliant features such as integrated text-to-speech support via ReadSpeaker, it ensures a modern user experience for all residents of Statia and beyond.
Key features include:
- Real-time access to Council agendas, minutes, and decisions
- Integrated public portal powered by iBabs for meeting information and documents
- News and updates directly from the Island Council
- Mobile-friendly design and improved document searchability
- Direct channels for citizen input and feedback
Part of a broader vision
This website launch is more than a digital refresh — it is part of a broader trajectory aimed at:
- Strengthening transparency and public accountability
- Increasing efficiency in the dissemination of governmental information
- Fostering civic participation through easy-to-access digital channels
- Laying the foundation for sustainable, data-informed decision-making
This aligns with the vision of the Island Council to make governmental processes more inclusive, accessible, and responsive. As they shared during their official launch announcement:
“This is more than just a website – it’s your direct link to the work of your elected officials.”
A collaborative rollout
The rollout included a tailored onboarding process for Statia’s internal teams, content editors, and communication staff, ensuring a smooth handover and local ownership of the platform. SIM Caribbean coordinated the full implementation timeline, combining both virtual and on-site training and support. The project also benefitted from the contributions of various stakeholders within the Statian public entity.
Empowering transparency, accessibility, and civic engagement through digital transformation.

Looking ahead
We’re honored to continue supporting St. Eustatius in its digital evolution and remain committed to helping Caribbean governments strengthen citizen engagement and institutional transparency through practical and inclusive technology.
